History: In 2008, David McCauley suffered a C6 spinal cord injury rendering him quadriplegic and paralyzing him from his chest down. During his 4 months in the rehabilitation hospital he was introduced to art therapy, which had a profound impact on him. By 2010, David decided to leave his career on Wall St and launch The Rise Up Gallery to help people through the difficult process of recovering from a catastrophic injury. In 2011, David was presented with The NJ Hero award by Governor Chris Christie and his wife Mary Pat for his outstanding work in the community. In 2012, Rise Up relocated to Miami where it continues to offer its award winning programs to the community and has been awarded grants in 2012 and 2013 by the Miami Dade Cultural Affairs Department.
